Description Semantic Sciences works in the
areas of knowledge management and situation analysis. It
is creating and exploiting technologies for use by government and commerce
to enable rapid analysis of historical and real-time data to yield high
value actionable information.
Knowledge Management Conventional knowledge management systems
are based on keyword search over an enterprise's internal data.
Semantic Sciences technology has advanced on this approach by providing
tools for:
Semantic Search: where we provide search query
interfaces that enable search results to be restricted selected
ontology classes as well as by keyword. Ontology classes can be
generic, such as: "Person" or "Organisation" or much more specific, for
example, "Police Person".
Reference Retrieval: our semantic search tools
retrieve information below document level by finding the specific textual
references for entities, actions and relationships.
Ontology Design: rapid creation, refinement and
regression testing of ontologies for use enterprise-wide, in departments
and for transient projects.

Situation Analysis
Situation analysis is the process of fusing information
about many aspects of a real-time situation in order to create a coherent picture of the state of
a complicated system. The company's staff have pioneered novel
developments in the area of military situation assessment which allow
complex battles to be monitored and understood scalably in real-time.
The technology is now being applied to socio-economic modelling.
Activities and Plans
Semantic Sciences activities are currently focussed on research and
development, with an emphasis on two types of projects: the rapid
creation of near-term licensable technology and the development of
high-leverage technology with longer term impact in collaboration with third parties.

Logo
The Semantic Sciences logo is derived from the word
"semantic", meaning relating to symbols. The logo itself is a picture of the
Dhyana Mudra, the symbol of absolute balance in Buddhist iconology.
